But its retirement was short-lived. For the 2026 model year, Jeep has an all-new Cherokee on the horizon\u2014and these early images give us an idea of what to expect from the brand&#8217;s next mid-size off-roader.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Cherokee adopts the automaker&#8217;s latest design language, first seen on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/reviews\/748877\/2024-jeep-wagoneer-s-first-drive-review\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22748877%22%2C%22section%22%3A%222%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%222024-jeep-wagoneer-s-first-drive-review%22%7D\"> the Wagoneer S<\/a>, then on the new Compass that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/758699\/jeep-compass-future-uncertain-usa\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22758699%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22jeep-compass-future-uncertain-usa%22%7D\">debuted in May<\/a>. Up front, the Cherokee wears the brand&#8217;s iconic seven-slot grille, while the body has a familiar, rugged shape. Jeep has already confirmed a hybrid, but pure gas and fully electric powertrains are highly likely as well. This is the same platform that will be used in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/features\/760982\/new-alfa-romeo-stelvio-horsepower-price-details\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22760982%22%2C%22section%22%3A%223%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22new-alfa-romeo-stelvio-horsepower-price-details%22%7D\">the upcoming Alfa Romeo Stelvio<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If we\u2019re lucky, the Cherokee could even adopt a version of the company\u2019s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre \u2018Hurricane\u2019 inline-six, which makes up to 510 horsepower. But, don\u2019t expect that much oomph on Jeep\u2019s mid-size SUV.<\/p>\n<p>An electric Cherokee would likely have a similar setup to the current Wagoneer S, which uses a 100.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack and two electric motors to produce 600 hp and 617 pound-feet of torque.
